About this role
This is a full-time remote role, worked from India or the Philippines, managing end-to-end international shipments from China to the United States. You will coordinate with factories, suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, customs brokers and warehouses in China to keep cargo moving on schedule; handle freight bookings for ocean (FCL and LCL) and air shipments; prepare and review the shipping documentation; obtain and compare freight quotes and negotiate competitive rates; and resolve delays, customs holds, documentation discrepancies and other disruptions across multiple shipments at the same time. You will be the primary logistics point of contact for China-side partners and will give a U.S.-based team timely, accurate shipment status updates. Mandarin is used every day with the Chinese logistics partners, and professional English with the U.S. team. This is a hands-on, mid to senior level role, not an entry-level position.
What you’ll do
- Manage end-to-end international shipments from China to the United States
- Coordinate with factories, suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, customs brokers and warehouses to keep cargo moving on schedule
- Handle freight bookings for ocean freight (FCL and LCL) and air freight, including container shipping and booking management
- Prepare and review international shipping documentation: Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, commercial invoices, packing lists and customs paperwork
- Coordinate customs clearance for U.S. imports
- Obtain and compare freight quotes and negotiate competitive rates
- Track shipments and proactively resolve delays, customs holds, documentation discrepancies and other logistics disruptions
- Act as the primary logistics point of contact for China-side partners and give the U.S.-based team timely, accurate shipment status updates
- Manage multiple concurrent shipments independently
What we’re looking for
- Hands-on experience in international shipping and freight forwarding from China to the USA
- Ocean freight experience with FCL and LCL shipments
- Air freight coordination
- Container shipping and booking management
- Freight quote request, comparison and negotiation
- Shipping documentation: Bill of Lading, Air Waybill, Commercial Invoice and Packing List
- Import and export documentation
- Customs clearance coordination for U.S. imports
- Shipment tracking and exception management
- Coordination with Chinese factories, suppliers, freight forwarders and carriers
- Fluent spoken Mandarin Chinese
- Professional English, written and spoken
- Mid to senior level: proven hands-on professional experience in international shipping, freight forwarding or China export operations (not an entry-level position)
- Based in India or the Philippines
Nice to have
- An established network of freight forwarders and logistics providers in China
- Experience with certificates and specialized import documentation
- Familiarity with port congestion management and vessel rollover resolution
- Experience with consolidation facilities and warehouse coordination
