Interior Design Drafter - Revit

RemoteFull-TimeU.S. business hours

This role is interior construction documentation, not structural architecture, MEP design or 3D rendering. You would take architectural files and building-service drawings and develop them in Revit into coordinated interior sets: floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, finish schedules and millwork details. The coordination is the job. The reflected ceiling plan, the HVAC layout, the interior elevation and the finish schedule have to agree, and catching it when they do not, before it reaches site, is what is being hired. A portfolio of interior construction drawings you produced is required, and you will be asked what your own role was on each one. If your work is mainly rendering or visualization, this is not the role for you.

Develop coordinated interior construction documentation in Revit - reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, finish schedules and millwork details - and catch the conflicts between architectural, interior and MEP drawings before they reach site. Documentation, not rendering.

About this role

This is an interior finishing, detailing and construction documentation role. Working primarily in Revit, you would take architectural files, layouts and building-service information and develop them into comprehensive, coordinated interior drawing sets: floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, finish schedules, millwork details and full construction documentation packages. Much of the work is coordination. You would read and interpret HVAC and MEP drawings, integrate building-system information into interior ceiling and finish plans, and identify conflicts between architectural, interior and MEP elements before they escalate. The expectation is ownership of the documentation workflow, from architectural background through interior layout, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, finishes, MEP coordination and final quality check, with minimal day-to-day supervision, working with architects, interior designers, engineers, contractors and consultants on a remote international team. The role does not include structural architecture, MEP design or 3D rendering.

What you’ll do

  • Develop interior drawing sets in Revit from architectural files, layouts and building-service information
  • Produce floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, sections and detail drawings
  • Prepare finish schedules covering paint, wallcoverings, moldings, trim, flooring, ceilings, doors, windows, lighting and millwork
  • Develop millwork and custom interior details
  • Read and interpret HVAC and MEP drawings and integrate building-system information into ceiling and finish plans
  • Cross-reference floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, HVAC layouts and interior elevations to identify and resolve conflicts
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy, annotations, callouts and drawing standards
  • Run independent quality control and review on your own drawing sets
  • Take ownership of the documentation workflow from architectural background through final quality check

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years in interior design drafting, architectural interiors, or a closely related drawing production or documentation role
  • Revit for interior design and construction documentation, beyond basic drafting
  • Reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, floor plans, sections and detail drawings
  • Interior finishes documentation - paint, wallcoverings, moldings, trim, flooring, ceilings, doors, windows, lighting and millwork
  • Reading and coordinating MEP and HVAC drawings
  • Dimensional accuracy, annotations, callouts and drawing standards
  • Independent quality control and drawing review
  • A portfolio of interior construction drawings you produced, and readiness to discuss your own role on each project

Nice to have

  • U.S.-based residential, commercial, hospitality or high-end interior projects
  • Familiarity with U.S. architectural and interior construction documentation standards
  • Revit families, templates, view templates, sheets and schedules
  • Millwork, cabinetry and custom interior detail documentation
  • AutoCAD in addition to Revit
  • Working with remote design or architectural teams
  • Drawing packages that were used for actual construction
